Unconscious biases are social stereotypes that individuals pattern outside of their own conscious awareness of certain groups of people. These biases or beliefs, if not understood, can turn into prejudiced thoughts—which, if not corrected, can then turn into discrimination in the workplace.
At Spark Mindset, we understand unconscious bias creeps into all aspects of our lives and decision-making, not simply in ways that negatively impact diversity and inclusion efforts. As part of the workshop, we will give you the tools and strategies to manage your bias.
Our workshop will focus on three specific situations that our participants encounter unconscious biases in their day-to-day work: recruiting and hiring, team dynamics, and career development. Through some lectures, facilitated discussions, and exercises our goals is to help organizations determine immediate, short-term, and long-term goals we can have to make progress toward managing unconscious bias and work towards an inclusive culture.
